The world famous Walnut Room has been a Chicago tradition since 1907. Located on the 7th floor of Macy's on State Street, the Walnut Room was the first restaurant ever opened in a department store. Conveniently located in the heart of the Chicago theater district, the Walnut Room is an excellent choice to take a break from shopping or for a meal and a glass of wine before the show.

    Our waitress was outstanding! I had the braised ribs and they were fantastic! We will be making this a family holiday tradition.

    Food was good, well known for pot pie, but turkey was also good.carrot cake and frango mint ice cream dessert are recommended. Staff was very friendly and provided good service

    We were very happy with our food- chicken salad sandwich and Caesar salad with chicken. Our server was fantastic and the roving princesses were very engaging. The only downside was the “validated “ parking cost. 68$ for slightly more than 2 hours!! Never again. Kicking myself for not using Spot Hero.

    Lobster bisque was excellent, Asiago crusted chicken breast with mashed potato was excellent and of course the Shepherds Pie!

    A beautiful venue. Our server was very nice but seemed to be overworked and it took a long time to get service. Once we ordered the food came quickly. My husband and I ordered the meatloaf. It had good flavor but was burnt on one side and very dried out. Our daughter had the salmon which she enjoyed. It seems iconic to eat here during the holidays but perhaps is not worth the hype.

    My husband, daughter, and I have been coming here around Christmas every year for 5-6 years and love this tradition. The food is delicious, the Christmas tree is gorgeous, and the service is great! If you want to do something special to celebrate the holidays this is the place to be!
