An informal Italian restaurant serving traditional favorites along with excitingly new dishes. Trattoria Bianca is a favorite of locals, business people and travelers in midtown.
Bright and mostly white, it is a sleek reinterpretation of Italian Art Deco along with the owner's collection vintage food and wine posters.
Bianca's menu ranges from a simple bowl of spaghetti carbonara to a Tuscan-style steak and a bottle of old Barolo. Featured dishes: shrimp scampi on soft polenta; frisee salad with fried oysters, poached egg, and pork belly; seafood fritto misto; salmon saltimbocca-style with sage and crispy pancetta; numerous pastas and superb pizzas; Chianti- braised short rib, and lamb shank in rich pan juices. For lunch there are heaping salads and inventive sandwiches using Italian ingredients

I chose this restaurant because I read some great reviews and it is close to Penn Station. My friends and I were not disappointed. We didn’t order anything extravagant because we didn’t have a lot of time but we were very pleased with our food. The eggplant stack parmigiana was perfectly cooked and made with fresh ingredients! The Caesar salad was also fresh with just the right amount of dressing and fresh shaved Parmesan on top with homemade sliced croutons. We also had the warm chicken avocado caesar which did not disappoint.

Honestly I don’t know how this restaurant, in NYC, had 4 1/2 star ratings. Some of the food was okay, pretty good, but one of the items marked in red as a chef’s special, was bland, no seasoning, couldn’t taste anything, the insalata verde was chock full of withered and brown greens, also had no flavor, the ambience is cafeteria style/classic diner, but the prices are higher end, the Malbec, by the glass, tasted like it had been on the shelf, no flavor…the waiter, however, was excellent and helpful in changing one of our orders. I would never spend another cent there. Molto mediocre

We were in New York over Thanksgiving with family and nobody wanted traditional turkey and dressing. So I picked Trattoria Bianca as an alternative Thanksgiving dinner. There were eight of us and we had everything from regular dinners to pizza. Some great martinis and the service was very friendly.

Come here every time we come to visit NYC. The beet salad looks amazing and tastes great We had the whole branzino. If you like branzino, this is one of the the best we've ever have. Prices for NYC aren't bad. service was very good. One guest was gluten free and we had no problems.

We booked here primarily due to proximity to our hotel and available reservations but were extremely happy with our choice. Food was delicious, wine was great and reasonably priced and our waitress was just delightful.
